(Red Oak) -- Red Oak residents can no longer use tobacco on city owned property, that is if the city council approves the final draft of an ordinance that will be presented to them at the next regular meeting.
The question was put in front of the Red Oak City Council Monday night whether or not they wanted to make the city parks only "tobacco free," or make all the areas that are smoke free, tobacco free as well. And Red Oak City Administrator Brad Wright said ultimately that is what the council decided.
"There will not be any tobacco usage allowed on any city owned property," stated Wright. "So we will be drafting an ordinance to the effect and that will be back in front of the city council next meeting for their consideration."
Wright says this is just a move to make their parks not only a healthier place and provide a role model for the communities children and people using the recreational areas.
