(Rock Island, IL) Members of Royal Neighbors of America Chapter 1373, Atlantic, IA, will present two local women a check for $3,500 each through Royal Neighbors’ Nation of NeighborsSM Program.
Treva Turpin, of Brayton, will use the funds to complete a two-story building to use as a “mess hall” for her Bible retreats and camps. Jacque Wickey,of Atlantic, is dedicated to assisting the area’s Family Crisis Support Network Victim’s Services (FCSNVS).
Treva and her husband were missionaries before they opened Bethany Camp, a Bible camp for children, in 1996. Today, with the help of various contributions, they also host women’s and couples retreats at no cost to the participants. Their next goal is to complete the building where they can cook and serve food, with the second floor to be used as a girls’ dorm.
Active in the community with various projects and programs, Jacque is especially supportive of FCSNVS which assists so many families in the area. The funds she receives from Royal Neighbors will help purchase gift cards and pay for first month’s deposits on rent, phone, electricity, etc., for families in need.
Check presentations will take place at the Sweet Joy Shoppe in Atlantic on Wednesday, December 5th at 2:00 pm.
