(ATLANTIC) Governor Terry Branstad toured Plastic Professionals in Atlantic today.
Plastic Professionals is a subsidiary of Owner Revolutions, Inc. Jeff Mauk, Director, said they make several different plastic components for companies all around the world, including the shoes the characters wear at Disney World.
“We make parts for companies like Walt Disney World and YETI coolers and we make things that they bury in the ground to things that are highly visible and highly aesthetic,” explained Mauk. “We’ve been growing like crazy around here. In 2012 we hired about 58 people and in 2013 we plan on hiring another 50 people. We’re actually installing some new machinery out here because we’ve exceeded the capacity of the machinery that we had.”
Following the tour, Governor Branstad said they continue to look at ways for companies like Plastic Professionals to continue to grow and succeed.
“We’re looking at reducing both the commercial and industrial property tax, probably limiting all classes of property, so we want to prevent it from being shifted to residential and ag as well, but then also we’re looking at the corporate and individual income tax too,” said Branstad. “We’re in a good financial position and hopefully we’ll be able to make some reductions there that can make us more competitive
The stop in Atlantic today completed Branstad’s tour of Iowa’s 99 counties.
