(Des Moines) The latest U-S drought monitor shows some improvement, thanks to rain last week.
“There is nothing real excessive, but just enough to at least replenish some sub-soil moisture levels that gives us a little bit of improvement as far as drought categorization for Iowa,” stated Hilaker
State Climatologist Harry Hilaker says the northwest part of the state is still the most-dry, and that’s a concern because that part of the state typically receives less moisture in the winter months than other parts of the state.
