(Lake City) Authorities have released the identities of the four people killed in the Lake City house fire that occurred earlier this week.
The Omaha World Herald says Lake City Police Chief Bobby Rist released the names of the victims Wednesday. They are identified as 22-year-old Tyra Pierson, and her children Madison 8, Wyatt, 3, and Xavier, 10-months.
Rist says they died of smoke and soot inhalation. The deaths are listed as accidental.
Fire Officials believe the fire was caused by a worn electrical cord from a lamp. Apparently the cord got stuck in the cushions of a couch, overheated and started the couch on fire.
Officials say the room was being renovated with exposed walls and insulation, which caused the fire to spread quickly throughout the house.
