(Audubon) The waiting game is over in Audubon County. The Election board canvassed the votes this afternoon to determine who won the second seat on the Audubon County Board of Supervisor’s.
Ten-votes separated Republican Duane Deist and Democrat Kent Grabill. And that count remained the same and Deist was officially declared the winner with 1,555 votes to Grabills’ 1,545. Incumbent Republican Todd Nelsen scored over 1,820 votes to earn his seat back on the board. A fourth candidate Jerry R. Carter, received 1,083-votes, but was out of the running.
The Absentee Board went to work late last week and began counting 21-ballots that had arrived after Election Day. At that time just 8-votes separated Deist and Grabill. The post election day count yielded five more votes for Deist and three more for Grabill.
Audubon County Auditor Lisa Fredericksen says her office has not received any more ballots in the mail since then.
