(Audubon) The waiting game will soon be over in Audubon County. The Election board will be canvassing the votes this afternoon to determine who won the second seat on the Audubon County Board of Supervisor’s.
Audubon County Auditor Lisa Fredericksen says currently 10-votes separate Republican Duane Deist and Democrat Kent Grabill. It appears Deist will be the winner with 1,555 votes to Grabills 1,545. Incumbent Republican Todd Nelsen scored over 1,800 votes to earn his seat back on the board. A fourth candidate Jerry R. Carter, received one more vote to take his total to1,083-votes, but out of the running.
The Absentee Board went to work late last week and began counting 21-ballots that had arrived after Election Day. At that time just 8-votes separated Deist and Grabill. The post election day count yielded five more votes for Deist and three more for Grabill. Fredericksen says her office has not received any more ballots in the mail since then.
The canvass will be held at 1:00 p.m.
