(Red Oak) A two-hour stand-off at a residence in Red Oak ended peacefully Monday afternoon.
According to the press release, Red Oak Police Officers were called to a residence in the 800 block of East Coolbaugh Street at around 4:52 p.m., for a disturbance involving a 19-year-old male. When Officers arrived on the scene they discovered that the subject, identified as Joshua M. Salvato, of Red Oak, was in possession of a weapon and wouldn’t let Police Officers enter the room where he was located.
A negotiator from the Red Oak Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol were called to the scene and at around 6:45 p.m. Salvato put down his weapon and voluntarily gave himself up to Police.
Salvato was transported to the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital for evaluation and no charges are expected to be filed against him.
The Red Oak Police Department was assisted by Red Oak Fire and Rescue, The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Troopers of the Iowa State Patrol.
