(Audubon) A public hearing was held in Audubon Monday at the Board of Supervisor’s meeting.
In order to help fulfill their obligation in the airport resurfacing project, the Audubon County Board of Supervisors will raise the levy for airport funding.
Chairman Todd Nelsen says the increase will be from 12 cents per thousand to 27 cents per thousand for up to three years.
"We have been levying 12 cents per thousand and the maximum is 27 cents (per thousand.) So when they requested that we help with a local match for the runway project that's how we are going to fund our county share of the local match."
The $2 Million resurfacing project is nearing completion. The Audubon County Board of Supervisor’s contribution to the project is $103,000.
In other business, the board accepted the resignation of Assistant Custodian Ron Jacobsen. Jacobsen is retiring and a part-time opening has been posted.
