(RED OAK) A teen received minor injuries to his foot during an accident in Villisca this (Friday) morning.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says the incident occurred at the intersection of 3rd and 4th Avenue at around 8:24 a.m. According to the report, a 1999 Mercury Sable, driven by 16-year-old Kelsi Jean Vannausdle, of Villisca, was stopped at the stop sign when, for unknown reasons, she began to back away from the stop sign and struck a legally parked pickup, driven by Dennis Alan Sunderman, of Villisca.
During the course of the accident, 13-year-old Austin Micah Pelgrini was standing near the parked pickup when Vannausdle began to back up. Peligrini had to take evasive action to avoid being pinned between the two vehicles and upon doing so the toes of his right foot were run over by the Vannausdle vehicle.
Peligrini was examined at the scene of the accident by Villisca EMS and released back to school officials. Vannausdle was issued a citation for Failure to Prove Security against Liability.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Villisca EMS and officials with the Villisca Community School District.
