(HARLAN) The Green Hills AEA is hosting their 2nd annual 21st Century Learners' Conference in Bedford and Harlan next month.
The focus of the conference is empowering teachers to use technology to bring the characteristics of effective instruction to life. Harlan School’s Superintendent Justin Wagner said the conference is a great fit with today’s changes in technology, especially since they have started their 1:1 computer program.
“I think we get it all wrong if we say technology is the key. Technology is not the key, technology is just a tool. The teachers are still the most important piece of this,” said Wagner. “That’s what we’re most excited about is getting the resources for staff to continue to broaden horizons and try to connect with kids.”
Wagner said a number of teachers from southwest Iowa will be presenting at the conference and their keynote speaker will be international speaker Kevin Honeycutt.
“He has a way of bringing technology to life and making it feel user friendly in ways that you can apply tomorrow, so to speak, in your classroom,” said Wagner.
The conference will be held in Bedford on October 4th and Harlan on October 5th.
