(Ames) Two Ames, Iowa entreprenuer's, formerly of Atlantic have sold their company to a German-based Chemical maker for $1.02 billion.
Becker-Underwood, co-founded in 1982 by Atlantic High School graduates, Roger Underwood and Jeff Becker, have made a deal to sell their Ames based Company to BASF. The Atlantic natives sold controlling interest to Norwest Equity Partners of Minneapolis in 2004.
BASF a German based company produces chemicals and plastics as well as oil and gas and agricultural herbicides and fertilizers. BASF spokesman Anne Burt says final decisions haven't been made about the future employment of Becker-Underwood's current executives and employees.
