(Atlantic) The Atlantic Middle School has implemented an incentive program this year to establish positive behavioral expectations within the school.
“The program is called True Trojans,” Atlantic Middle School Principal CAM Smith said. “This is part of positive behavior intervention and supports which help are students with expectations in some of the major areas of our school.”
Smith says those areas include; the lunch room, classroom, hallways, sporting events and school activities in general. “This program has really drawn a clear line on what is okay here at school, and what is not okay.”
CAM Smith says the True Trojan Program is based on four key behaviors; respect, attitude, responsibility, and compassion.
“We are trying to get the students to focus on these four behaviors. So if kids are respectful, they have a good attitude, responsible here at school, and compassionate for their classmates, we are going to have a dynamite school that everyone wants to come to and be a part of,” stated Smith.
Smith says as part of this program, the students are given rewards. The goal to keep the students in class, continue instruction and improve student achievement.
