(Des Moines) West Central Iowa residents near Carroll and Charter Oak could see F-16 fighter planes soar above them beginning tomorrow.
According to an Iowa National Guard press release, The 132nd Fighter Wing, based out of Des Moines will conduct an exercise Saturday through September 21 at the Des Moines Airbase.
A portion of the unit’s training will take place over an area bordering Carroll and Charter Oak to the south, and Sanborn and Whitmore to the north. The counties included in this are Carroll, Crawford, Sac and Cherokee.
F-16 aviators will fly from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. at altitudes as low as 45,000 feet.
In Des Moines, those who live near the airport may hear warning sirens, simulated explosions and simulated gunfire as part of the exercise.
