(Atlantic) More students are walking the halls in the Atlantic schools this year. Atlantic Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Amstein presented the good news to the Atlantic School Board Monday night.
“I took student enrollment today, (Tuesday), and these are not all of our students enrolled, but as far as warm bodies in the buildings it added up to 1,484 students,” stated Amstein.
That’s up 59-students from the Atlantic School Districts 2011-certified enrollment.
“For rural southwest Iowa this is basically unheard of,” Amstein said. “I am really pleased but it does create problems as we get those additional kids.”
When the official October head count is recorded, Amstein says the Atlantic School District could see a total enrollment increase of nearly 70-students.
