(Audubon) In order to help fulfill their obligation in the airport resurfacing project, the Audubon County Board of Supervisors will raise the levy for airport funding.
Chairman Todd Nelsen says the increase will be from 12 cents per thousand to 27 cents per thousand for up to three years.
"We have been levying 12 cents per thousand and the maximum is 27 cents (per thousand.) So when they requested that we help with a local match for the runway project that's how we are going to fund our county share of the local match."
The Audubon County Board of Supervisor’s contribution to the project is $103,000. The total cost of the airport resurfacing is estimated at over $2 Million. Most of the expenses are taken care of by a $1.8 Million federal grant, but the rest of the project will be paid for locally.
