(Council Bluffs) A Council Bluffs Schools bus driver was cited for a hit-n-run Thursday morning.
According to Police, 40-year-old Chris Fischer, of Council Bluffs was cited on suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident. Witnesses told police that at around 8:41 a.m., bus number 44, transporting students to Hoover Elementary, was traveling in the 300 Block of Benton Street when they witnessed the bus strike a parked 2004 Dodge Pickup. Afterwards the bus driver walked through the students, and then went back to the drivers’ seat and drove off.
When confronted by authorities, Fischer denied the allegations. However, after Police presented the driver with evidence matching the bus and the pickup, Fischer admitted he forgot to set the brake while disciplining a student and the bus rolled back and struck the vehicle.
There were about 30-students on the bus when the incident occurred.
