(Griswold) Two people were injured when a single-engine plane crashed Friday evening in a beanfield northwest of Griswold.
The accident occurred at around 8:30 p.m. near 18384 490th street approximately 6-miles northwest of Griswold. Pottawattamie County Sheriff Jeff Danker told KSOM/KS95 News that a high wing single-engine air-craft took off during an event at a private air strip when the engine stalled, went down and nosed into the ground causing the plane to flip over onto its top.
Danker did not release any names but did say the owner and pilot of the plane is a 75-year-old man who suffered a broken femur. The 59-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries. Danker said both were transported to Cass County Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Sheriff Danker said a tow company will be transporting the plane back to the airstrip. He said the FAA will investigate the crash on Monday.
