(ATLANTIC) The Cass County Board of Supervisors approved the appointment of Audubon County Attorney Francine Andersen as Deputy County Attorney at their meeting this morning.
Cass County Attorney Dan Fiestner told the Supervisors that the appointment is only on an “as needed” basis.
“Sometimes things come up where there might be a conflict or a case where I can’t handle it, so I told Dale (County Auditor) I’ll probably just ask maybe each year in January to appoint another County Attorney as a Deputy so if something comes up and I couldn’t handle a case or something was to come up to where I wasn’t available you wouldn’t be left hanging,” explained Fiestner.
And, the Cass County Board of Supervisors approved the appointment of Kenny Harrison, of Anita, to the Cass County Commission of Veteran Affairs for a three year term. Kenny Harrison had expressed interest in serving on the Commission and since the Supervisors felt there needed to be more balance within the County they voted for Harrison, who will replace Steve Livengood. Cass County Supervisor Chuck Rieken commended Livengood for his work on the Commission.
“I’d like to make note that Steve Livengood has done a very, very good job on the Veteran Affairs Board and he is to be commended for serving on that Board and the only reason that I voted the way I have is because I’d like to see a more even distribution throughout the county for representation,” said Rieken. “Steve has done an excellent job and I’m very proud of the job he has done.”
In other activity, the Supervisors approved an application and granted a permit for a fireworks display on July 3rd to Clarke Gerlock of rural Cumberland.
