(Atlantic) Air-conditioners will be humming today as the mercury rises close to 100-degrees. Duane Masker, of Masker Plumbing and Heating in Atlantic says the best thing you can do is close your blinds in your home.
“To help keep that heat transfer from the windows,” said Masker.
Masker says another thing that can keep that air-conditioner running smooth is to wash off your outside condensing unit, and make sure the furnace filter is clean.
“If you can’t get that air across that coil as hot as it is, it’s going to freeze your unit up because that air conditioner is pumping all that cold air and if it can’t bring enough warm air across that coil in your house it’s going to freeze it up and it going to take your efficiency away,” said Masker.
And Masker says the proper thermostat setting should be set at 76-degrees when it is 100-degrees outside.
