(Guthrie Center) The $500,000 downtown revitalization project continues in Guthrie Center. City Maintenance Director Bob Secoy says the project includes new LED lights, new sidewalks with design and color hooked in with some store front revitalization.
“What sparked the project is we wanted to spruce up the town and revitalize the downtown business area,” stated Secoy.
“When it is finished we will have crisp looking sidewalks that aren’t heaved here and there and not cracked,” He said. “We will have matching light poles, we are getting rid of some of the overhead clutter and it will also get the city up-to-date with the ADA requirements including handicap ramps and all that.”
Secoy says the idea for the project started about two-years ago. Construction began about a month ago.
