(ATLANTIC) Windbags sponsored a motorcycle ride, which left the Atlantic City Park this morning, to benefit the Cass County Relay for Life.
Susan Baxter, Event Organizer, said the motorcycle ride is traveling through Griswold, Grant, Massena, Anita, and Wiota before ending at the High School. She said this is the first year for the event.
“There is a bunch of us that like to ride; we came about being named the Windbags, not just because we’re loud and strong, but that there is a reason to ride for your cause and we just want to help out where we can in the community,” explained Baxter. “I had wanted to go on a tractor, but of course I don’t have a tractor anymore, so why not on a motorcycle. And, this has been so well received; it can only get larger and hopefully really help the cancer society get a hold of this disease.”
Riders Chris Blaine and Shirley Brown are riding in memory of Shirley’s husband Al Brown.
“He was just an all around good guy, he would do anything for anybody, always happy,” said Blaine.
Shirley added, “He lost his battle to pancreatic cancer last August and we walked the survivor lap last year so it means a lot for us to be on this one.”
All proceeds from the motorcycle ride will be donated to the Cass County Relay for Life this evening.
