(DES MOINES) The “Shipping 20” arrived to lottery headquarters in Des Moines by bus to collect their 241-million dollar Power Ball Jackpot, the largest lottery prize to date in Iowa.
The group, who wants to keep their names private, works at the Quaker Oats plant in Cedar Rapids, many for almost 30-years, pooling $5 every time the jackpots get over 100-million.
Al, the ticket buyer, says for the most part it’s been the same long time group. He said, ““There have been a few that have retired in the last few years and I just pick up one more person to fill in the difference.”
The “Shipping 20” intend to request an injunction to keep their names private, claiming they don’t want to deal with solicitors. Some have bought new cars already, and on winner, known as Kelly, says this jackpot helped him save the family farm and plans to move to Alaska.
They’ll each receive 5.6 million after taxes.
