(DENISON) A body was located along the railroad tracks near Highway 30 in Crawford County Tuesday.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation says at around 3:00 p.m. Union Pacific Railroad employees reported the incident. The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene along with officers from the Division of Criminal Investigation, Union Pacific Railroad, and Iowa State Patrol, as well as the Crawford County Medical Examiner.
Due to the state of decomposition, positive identification and cause of death cannot be determined until final autopsy results have been completed by the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office. An autopsy will be performed today (Wednesday).
The Denison Fire Department and the Vail Fire Department also assisted with the investigation.
Meanwhile, law enforcement is still searching for 44-year-old Jonathan Elwell of Shillington, Pennsylvania who was last seen on April 17th.
