(Westside) Officials with 11 area high schools came together late last week to cement plans for a new athletic conference that has been talked about for over three years.
The eleven teams include Adair-Casey, CAM, Exira-EHK, Ar-We-Va, Boyer Valley, Charter Oak-Ute, Coon Rapids-Bayard, Glidden-Ralston, Paton-Churdan, West Harrison, and Woodbine.
The conference will be referred to as the Rolling Valley and begins in the fall of 2013. Exira-EHK Superintendent Dean Schnoes says Thursday’s meeting at Ar-We-Va was used to start work on the constitution.
The Activities Directors of those eleven schools will meet in late July to better prepare for the new league.
Schnoes says the recent redistricting in football prompted the schools to become more serious in their talks about forming a new conference.
