(DES MOINES) After 100 years there are many reasons why the Villisca murders have captivated the attention of people from all over the country, according to Montgomery History Center Director David McFarland.
“The fact that after 100 years and it still remains unsolved I think just kind of ads to the mistake and I suppose some people are drawn in because it’s an unsolved mystery, there’s a huge, huge following of the paranormal; you know if there is ever a haunted house this has to be it, and there are those of us that look at it from a historical view point,” said McFarland.
Tickets were sold Sunday to people from all over the country to tour the home where eight people were found murdered on June 10, 1912. The Montgomery History Center has the axe used in the murders on display.
