(Atlantic) Atlantic City Councilwoman Kathy Somers reminds residents within Atlantic City limits, which debris from buildings undergoing demolition has to go to the landfill.
“The debris cannot go to some secret place outside of the city limits,” stated Somers. “And if the DNR ever finds a secret place where stuff has been dumped and buried, the person responsible will have to dig it up and take it to the landfill.”
Councilman Shawn Shouse says farmers can’t offer to take the debris either. “The farm rules dictate that only buildings on that particular farm be buried on that same farm.”
Meanwhile, the Cass County Board of Supervisor’s has been dealing with illegal dumping issues. County Officials have received complaints regarding old furniture and trash being dumped along county roads and ditches.
Last week, the Supervisor’s set hearing dates on a proposed illegal dumping ordinance. Hearings will be held June 15th and 20th with the adoption set for June 20th.
