(Atlantic) The Cass County Soil and Water Conservation District is celebrating their 70th Anniversary with their first ever banquet.
Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey will speak at the banquet and the Soil and Water Conservation District will honor a local landowner or tenant that has shown good conservation practices.
Chairman Curt Behrends and Vice Chairman Greg Zellmer say most of the time you only hear about the things that people are doing wrong and that’s why they want recognize those that are doing the right thing.
This is the 70th anniversary for the Cass County Soil and Water Conservation District and Zellmer quickly sums up the reason why they exist saying,
“So that they land will be there for next generation.”
Nominations are due July 6th to the Cass County Soil and Water Conservation District Office in Atlantic. That is also where you can buy your tickets and/or make a donation to help fund the first ever banquet which will be held at the Cass County Community Building at 6:00 p.m. on August 23rd.
