(Harlan) Work continues on Harlan’s Waste Water Treatment Plant. Tuesday night the Harlan City Council approved the issuance of a $2.4 million bond for the renovation project and agreed to levy a tax to pay for it.
“The plant is 34-years old and we have gotten our life out of it and it is time to re-fix it and go on,” stated Harlan City Administrator Terry Cox.
Harlan City Administrator Terry Cox says the council approved part of that bond issue for the lift station which was built, re-built and improved. He says work is currently being done at the main plant. Workers are rebuilding 8-bio discs which could take 9-months to complete. The other improvements include a new roof, and digester along with some lid replacement.
Cox says the project is scheduled to be completed in about a year.
