(Atlantic) A combined effort by the Cass County Sheriff’s and Atlantic Police Department resulted in numerous charges involving a number of car burglaries and a stolen firearm.
Atlantic Police Chief Steve Green says four people have been charged in the burglaries including; 17-year-old Shawn Jensen, of Atlantic and 17-year-old Cameron Burg, of Atlantic. They are each charged with 25-counts of 3rd degree burglary and ongoing criminal conduct. During the investigation, law enforcement recovered a stolen firearm from 19-year-old Joseph Riesberg, of Atlantic. He was charged with felony possession of a firearm, and 4th degree theft. Also charged was 20-year-old Lucas Nelson, of Marne for possession of stolen property. Atlantic Police Chief Steve Green says the arrests were the result of a lengthy investigation.
“These burglaries have been going on for sometime around the County and the city of Atlantic,” stated Chief Green. “For probably about two weeks Atlantic Police and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office have been working on specific information on some of these individuals. Sheriff McLaren had some initial leads and worked into and as usual we put all of the officers and deputies together and they came up with quite a number of charges.”
Chief Green says the case remains under investigation and may have more charges pending.
