(East Peru) Longtime Iowa Farm Broadcaster, Mark Pearson died of an apparent heart attack Sunday at his home near East Peru in Madison County.
The Des Moines Register reports that the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and emergency responders had been called at around about 5:30 p.m. to Mark Pearson’s residence in rural Madison County. An air ambulance also flew to the scene. But, Chief Deputy Jason Barns told the Register about half an hour later that Pearson was dead.
News of Mark Pearson’s passing has made it all the way to Iowans in the Far East, where Governor Terry Branstad is on a trade mission to China.
"He was just a great friend of agriculture, a man with a great sense of humor and someone I considered a dear, dear friend," stated Governor Branstad. "So I am very sorry to hear of his passing, and he is going to be greatly missed."
And Terry Branstad says he mourns the loss of his “Good Friend” Mark Pearson Mark Pearson had been host of Iowa Public Television’s Market-to-Market Show. He also co-hosted WHO-AM radio’s “The Big Show,” which also focused on agriculture news. Mark Pearson was 54.
