(Council Bluffs) Two people were killed and four other’s were injured Sunday morning in a two-vehicle accident near the 63 mile marker on Interstate 29.
The Iowa State Patrol says, 18-year-old Alvaro Rodriguez, of Omaha, and 37-year-old Obed Orozo, of Logan died in the crash. The four injured are identified as Joel Garcia-Lucero, 25-year-old Mario Amaya-Elizalde, 27-year-old Alejandro Gardea, all of Omaha, and 25-year-old Nicholas Miller, of Glenwood. Council Bluff's Rescue transported Lucero, Gardea, and Elizalde to the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Crescent Rescue transported Miller to Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs.
According to the accident report, Lucero and Miller were both northbound on I-29 in the right hand lane. Lucero lost control of his vehicle when he attempted to pass Miller and crossed back over in the right hand lane striking Millers’ vehicle. Both car’s entered the ditch and rolled several times before coming to rest.
