(DES MOINES) The worldwide economic slowdown and money trouble in Europe are coming back to haunt the Midwest economy. Creighton University Economist Ernie Goss says his monthly survey of the Midwest shows things are slowing here, almost exactly what happened a year ago.
“We’re not in a recession, but we’re certainly in a period of slow growth,” said Goss. “It’s much like what we saw last year at this time when we saw pretty good numbers in the winter and then spring got slower and then summer even slower.”
He says the June survey will be the one to watch. Another downturn would spell trouble for Midwest economic growth.
