(Lewis) Craig Meyer, Save the Lewis Post Office Committee Chairman, is urging Iowans to lobby for the passing of bill S-1789.
If passed, the bill would provide funding to help improve, sustain, and transform the U.S. Postal Service.
“It might not save them all but it could keep a lot of them open. I think the small towns that are being closed right now need to start calling in and the senators to vote yes on this bill so it can pass and they can get it going.”
Meyer says Senator Grassley can be reached by calling 202-224-3744 and Senator Harkin can be reached at 202-224-3254.
With 275 post offices in the state on the list, that puts Iowa and Pennsylvania as the top two states in the nation when it comes to potential Post Office foreclosure.
