(VILLISCA) The Corning and Villisca School Boards will hold a joint board meeting on Wednesday to act on identical motions involving sharing certain sports.
Corning and Villisca Superintendent William Stone informed the board of directors of both districts that decision made at the April 16th joint board meeting were not binding. When Mr. Stone learned of possible confusion regarding certain motions, he contacted the district’s lawyers. The confusion revolved around two different motions passed by the Corning and Villisca boards. The lawyer indicated both boards need to act on identical motions.
According to the press release, holding another joint board meeting will allow the boards to act with community involvement. Based on the March joint board meeting, the administration recommended that the schools share High School tennis, cross country, and possibly wrestling. Mr. Stone believes that the community chose not to speak at the April 16th meeting because they felt that would be the board’s actions.
The board meeting will be held at the Corning High School auditorium at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
