(Des Moines) State Officials have released more information in connection with the damage from the tornado that ripped through parts of Fremont and Union Counties last weekend.
“Earlier this week, teams of state and local officials conducted a preliminary survey of the damage in Thurman and Creston,” stated Lucinda Robertson, from the Iowa Homeland Security Office. “And there were 18-homes in Creston that received either major damage or were destroyed. In Thurman there were 9-homes that sustained either major damage or were completely destroyed.”
Robertson says the only financial assistance they can provide would be a program called The State Individual Assistance Program.”
We are hoping that we will be able to offer that to residence of Fremont and Union Counties,” said Robertson. “And that is a program that is available primarily for local residents. I believe they can receive up to $5,000.00 for reimbursement of damaged items such as a refrigerator, or a freezer, ect.”
Robertson says there are various other things involved with responding to the disaster or the after effects of the tornado.
