(Atlantic) Atlantic City Councilman Steve Livengood and chairman of the Community Protection Committee says there should will be an Urban Deer Hunting Ordinance in front the city council next month.
“On the 2nd of May we are going to put an ordinance in front of the Council,” said Livengood. “I think that the Community Protection Committee has given due diligence on it, we’ve worked on it pretty hard. It seems to be what I consider to be a good valid ordinance, we’ve got the Police Chief in here and we’ve got hunters, we think it’s a good ordinance.”
Livengood says it will take three readings to pass the ordinance that would go into effect in November.
“The ordinance is going to require the Police Department to do a fair amount of administration,” said Livengood. “We have to qualify these hunters. So they have got these ideas on how we’re going to establish qualification for the hunters, they’ll have to have that procedure. We have to figure out where we’re going to do this at. The Police Chief is literally neck deep in this; I mean he has some very good ideas on how we’re going to do that, that’s his responsible as is the administration.”
Livengood says once that list is compiled then we start hunting deer with a bow.
