(GREENE CO.) Two people were injured after a train struck their vehicle in Greene County Monday night.
The Iowa State Patrol says at around 11:30 p.m. a 1998 Chevy Venture, driven by 26-year-old Cori Lynn Hunsicker, of Jefferson, was southbound on North Grimmell Road when the van incurred possible mechanical failure and stalled on the railroads tracks. The van was struck by an eastbound locomotive. A 5-year-old passenger, Tyler Onnen, of Jefferson, was ejected from the van, which ended up on its top in the north ditch. Hunsicker was out of the van when medics arrived.
Tyler Onnen was transported to Blank Children’s Hospital by Lifeflight. Cori Lynn Hunsicker was transported to Methodist Hospital by Lifeflight.
