(Atlantic) There has been a changing of the guard, so to speak at the Atlantic Municipal Utilities. Steve Tjepkes, former controller, began his new job as AMU General Manager on April 1. Monday, Jennifer Saathoff took over as AMU’s new controller.
Saathoff was born and raised in Cass County and received a double-major in accounting and finance at Iowa State University and earned her masters degree in business at the University of Nebraska. She was employed in the corporate area with State Farm Insurance and First National Bank of Omaha, before coming back to Atlantic to raise a family.
“We are excited to get a Controller at AMU with the valuable experience that Jennifer has in the corporate world,” stated Tjepkes. “As Controller, Jennifer is our main financial employee, having a hand in about everything we do. We rely on this position alot in our utility not only with the finances, but also in the regulatory area that all businesses face so much more of these days.”
“I have the good fortune that Steve is still here, which means I didn’t have to start from scratch,” stated Saathoff. “The first three day have been great! The main challenge for me is getting used to the industry. The numbers are the same, it is understanding the nuances of the business, and that kind of thing.”
Jennifer and her husband Lee reside in Atlantic, and have two children. Jillian, is 3-years old, and Peter turns one on Sunday.
