(Harlan) Harlan Community High School Activities Director Mitch Osborn urges area businesses not to support any out of state organization trying to sell sponsorships for a Harlan football poster.
“Any time you mention football in our community people are chomping at the bit to help sponsor and help do those things. People can do it, it’s a free society, but we just want to let our people know that the money is not coming back to our community or athletic department.”
Osborn says posters put together by the local newspaper provide a benefit to all parties.
“We do our things through the Harlan newspaper, they print our posters and do our things and then they donate right back to the activity department. It’s a win-win for both of us. Just warning people that if people out of state come and try to sell ads, it’s not sponsored by our school district.”
Osborn says the outside company is not doing anything illegal, but says they are misleading the public by saying that their posters are being made for the school.
