(ATLANTIC) A Body Pump “re-launch” will take place at the Nishna Valley Family YMCA in Atlantic next week.
Deb Schuler, Body Pump Instructor, says the re-launch means there will be new music and new choreography.
“It’s a 60 minute class, it’s based to music, we work all the major muscle groups in the entire body, so you can get your whole workout in for the day in that 60 minutes,” said Schuler. “It doesn’t matter whether you’ve been working out for a long time or if you’re just beginning in your fitness venture, there is something for everyone.”
Steve Hansen, Body Pump Instructor, says this program is for both men and women.
“Body Pump, for example, a woman doesn’t have to worry that she’s going to get into that class and then bulk up like a body builder, that’s not the case,” said Hansen. “But yet, in the four years that I’ve been taking the class, before I became an instructor, I just saw amazing results in myself, it was a huge change for me. So, it can be really beneficial for men, and I’d like to see more men showing up.”
Body Pump classes go year-round and take place Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 a.m., and Saturdays at 7:15 a.m. The program is free to members; however, non-members can also take the classes for a daily fee.
In addition to Schuler and Hansen; Denise King, Diana Robinson and Lisa Peterson are also Body Pump Instructors.
If Body Pump is not for you, there are also several other programs at the “Y” you can participate in, including; Boot Camp, Zumba, Cardio Cycling, Body Flow, CX Works, and several water classes. Schedules for the programs are available at the “Y”.
