(Atlantic) The Atlantic School Board agreed to share the resurfacing costs at the Sunnyside tennis courts. The Atlantic Community School Board met in regular session Tuesday night and voted unanimously to kick in $90,000 to help fund the project. Atlantic Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Amstein says this agreement is pending on grants that are being sought after by the Atlantic Park and Rec Board. Dr. Amstein recommended that the board approve the agreement with the exact numbers that were presented to them.
"My only discussion was that the board consider the amount which included those grants and if they are not obtained it would change this amount significantly," stated Dr. Amstein. "I don't think the board can go into an agreement with numbers that are not firm."
The money will be drawn from the Physical Plant and Equipment capital fund. Dr. Amstein suggests the school district kick in a small part of the money in late fall, with the balance paid from the 2013-2014 PPEL levy.
