(Greenfield) The brand new Adair County Public Safety Center is slated to officially open Wednesday. The Sheriff’s Office has been waiting on the installation of the 911 equipment.
“We are anxious to get in there and learn how to run the place,” stated Adair County Sheriff Brad Newton.
Sheriff Newton says the new jail will be far more secure than the old facility. He says it will be 100-percent more user friendly and everyone will have their own workspace. In addition there is more storage and an updated filing system.
The new facility provides for a new Sheriff Administration area, and space for the Greenfield Police Department, a new 9-1-1 Dispatch Center and a new Correctional area. The Correctional areas include six classifications, fourteen beds and room for 6 additional future beds.
Sheriff Newton says the new structure replaces a 107-year-old house that suffered from structural damage, representing danger to staff, inmates and Public Safety.
