(MISSOURI VALLEY) An Omaha woman was injured in a single-vehicle accident in Harrison County Sunday morning.
The Iowa State Patrol says 55-year-old Deborah Young was driving a 2008 Honda CR-V southbound on I-29 near the 73 mile marker when she veered hard to the right and entered the west ditch. Young’s vehicle made contact with a tree, which caused the vehicle to spin around and come to rest amongst several other trees. Young was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by mechanical means by the Missouri Valley Fire Department. She was transported to the University of Nebraska Medical Center by Life Net.
Young later told authorities that she was lost and tired. She believed that a change in her medication caused her to fall asleep. Young was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.
