(Stanton) Two rural Montgomery County teens were injured in a single-vehicle accident early Sunday morning approximately 2 ½ miles northeast of Stanton.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says 17-year-old Austin Bechtold and his 13-year-old passenger Alex Bechtold, both from Stanton, were both taken to the Montgomery County Hospital in Red Oak with non life threatening injuries. The vehicle owned by Deborah L. Howe of Stanton, was listed as a total loss.
Authorities say Austin Bechtold was driving eastbound on old Highway 34 whenit it went out of control while he attempt to miss deer that had run onto the roadway. Bechtold’s vehicle traveled across the center line, left the road and struck an abutment. The collision forced the vehicle to go airborne and went it hit the ground it rolled several times coming to rest on its wheels and facing southwest.
No citations were issued in the crash that occurred at around 12:20 a.m. Sunday.
