(Des Moines) State representative Clel Baudler tells KSOM/KS95.7 news that a bill has been passed out of the house that would require state agencies to provide a jobs impact statement when they propose a rule or try to propose a law.
“As to whether this proposal would be positive or negative impact on private sector or jobs and employment. This is something we feel in the house is very important.”
This bill was prompted by the sheer volume of new laws that were put into place for January 2012.
“40,000 new laws nationwide at the first of the year, 2012. People have to comply with 40,000 new laws, it makes you wonder if all of them are needed, some of them are needed, or any of them are needed.”
Baudler says that the governor and the lieutenant governor went around the state and got ideas on jobs and regulations that are hurt by the legislature.
“They want to stop that and really I call it putting common sense back into what we do down there. Especially with our economy.”
Baudler adds that he hopes the senate passes it quickly down to the governor.
