(Stuart) Two Western Iowa woman died Sunday morning in a single vehicle accident on Interstate 80 in Adair County.
The Iowa State Report Patrol says 58-year-old Cynthia Priester, and 38-year-old Jennifer Priester, both of Sioux City, were killed in the accident that occurred around 10:50 a.m. near the 85-mile marker. The two were passengers in a 2000 Chevy Trailblazer, driven by 60-year-old Johnny Priester, of Sioux City.
The Iowa State Patrol says Priester was driving eastbound in the right hand land of I-80, when for some unknown reason the vehicle left the road and went into the median traveling between two bridges. The Trailblazer struck a rock embankment and rolled onto its roof and slid across the ice covered Middle River into the east bank where the vehicle became partially submerged in water.
Johnny Priester was injured in the accident and transported by Stuart Rescue to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Adair County Sheriff’s Office, Stuart Police Department, and the Stuart Fire Department.
