(Des Moines) The Des Moines National Weather Service issued a Special Weather Statement this morning warning of slick roads over parts of southwest and west central Iowa.
Forecasters continue to issue the statement for Crawford, Carroll, Greene, Boone, Audubon, Guthrie, Dallas, Cass, Adair, Adams, and Taylor Counties. That includes; the cities of Denison, Carroll, Jefferson, Boone, Audubon, Guthrie Center, Adel, Atlantic, Greenfield, Corning, and Bedford.
According to The National Weather Service, a weak low level southerly flow over the state has produced fog over much of central Iowa. For locations northwest of a line from Waterloo to Des Moines to Creston visibilities are reported to be between 3 and 5 miles. Road temperatures over locations north of I-80 and west of I-35 are near or below freezing and there is a potential for frost or ice deposition from the fog. This would make roads slick in spots for the morning drive to work.
