(Audubon) One key item on the Audubon County Board of Supervisors agenda on Monday will be to discuss and consider withdrawing from the landfill commission.
Audubon County Supervisor Chairman Todd Nelson says if a decision to withdraw from the landfill commission is made, it could provide a financial boost to the county.
"We've been discussing our contribution to the landfill commission and coming to think that there would be significant savings from not belonging to the commission although there are still some questions we have."
Questions include disposal appliances and hazardous waste. Nelsen acknowledges that there could be downsides to withdrawing from the landfill commission but admits that talks have become more serious in recent weeks.
"With budget time coming around again we are just considering where we could save and this came up. We've been discussing it and have gotten to the point where we are seriously considering it.”
The Supervisors are expected to vote on the matter at their meeting on Monday. The meeting begins at 9:00 a.m.
