(Atlantic) Icy roads are causing difficult driving conditions this morning. There were numerous reports of cars sliding in the ditch on Interstate 80, earlier this morning
The latest DOT road condition report showing just a few slick spots around the area this morning. Highway 6, from Highway 48 into Atlantic is completely covered with ice. Highway 6, east to Highway 71, north to I-80, is also slick this morning. Interstate 80 between the Walnut and Anita Exits was completely covered with ice. And Highway 92 from Highway 71 to Bridgewater is completely covered with ice.
Law enforcement was dispatched to an accident on Interstate 80 at just after 8:30 this morning. A van slid off the road and into a ditch and there are unconfirmed reports of at least one serious injury.
Crawford and Carroll Counties are on the southern edge of counties under a winter weather advisory until 6:00 a.m. Monday. Forecasters are calling for light ice and snow accumulations; however the winds are expected to pickup today and tonight causing blowing and drifting of snow.
